We’re so excited to introduce Songs, Volume 1, a brand-new collection bringing together 23 original songs and beloved hymns from across the Big Bible Stories for Little Hearts catalog.
For the first time, some of our favorite music is all together in one place—ready for kitchen dance parties, car-ride singalongs, quiet mornings, and all the ordinary moments in between.
Why a Songs Collection?
From the very beginning, music has been an important part of Big Bible Stories for Little Hearts.
There’s something special about the way kids remember a song. They may forget something we told them five minutes ago (any other parents relate?), but somehow they can remember every word of a favorite song after hearing it a handful of times.
And we love using that gift of music to help little hearts remember what is true.
The songs throughout our collections reinforce the same truths we hope kids hear again and again in our stories: God is big. God is good. God loves them. His Word can be trusted. And Jesus is at the center of the greatest story ever told.
But there’s another reason music has been woven into Big Bible Stories from the beginning.
Music Has Always Been Part of the Story
For Big Bible Stories co-founder Joy Hanna, songwriting started long before Big Bible Stories did.
Joy began writing songs when she was just 12 years old and has spent years as a singer-songwriter and worship leader, using music to tell stories, express truth, and point people toward God.
Now, as a mom, that love for songwriting has taken on an entirely new meaning.
There’s something incredibly special about writing songs that help little ones hide God’s Word in their hearts—putting Scripture and timeless truths about who God is into melodies they’ll sing while they play, ride in the car, dance around the kitchen, or fall asleep at night.
For Joy, getting to combine a lifelong love of songwriting with the privilege of helping the next generation know and remember God’s Word feels a little bit full-circle.
And after hearing from so many families whose kids especially loved the music on their Big Bible Stories cards, we decided it was time to give the songs a collection of their own!
