|Big Bible Stories

If you're wondering whether Big Bible Stories are right for your family, you're in the right place. We've gathered answers to the questions parents ask us most—from recommended ages and Bible translations to what makes our stories different and where you can listen.

Whether you found us through Yoto, Instagram, a friend, or Google, we're so glad you're here! Below are answers to the questions we hear most often from families who are considering Big Bible Stories for the first time.

Why Thousands of Families Choose Big Bible Stories

There are plenty of children's Bible resources available today—but families tell us they choose Big Bible Stories because their kids don't just listen...they ask to hear the stories again and again.

Every collection is thoughtfully created to help young children engage with God's Word in a way that's both fun and faithful to Scripture. Instead of simply reading the Bible aloud, we use engaging character voices, immersive sound effects, original music, and age-appropriate storytelling to bring each account to life.

Parents especially love that our stories are:

  • Written for children ages 1-9, with language little ones can easily understand

  • Short enough to fit naturally into breakfast, car rides, quiet time, or bedtime

  • Focused on the big truths of Scripture without oversimplifying God's Word

  • Designed to encourage meaningful family conversations through our "What Does This Teach Us?" questions

  • Available on Yoto cards and as MP3 downloads for flexible listening wherever your family goes

Our hope has always been simple: to help children fall in love with God's Word—one story at a time.

Who created Big Bible Stories?

Big Bible Stories was created by sisters-in-law Chrissy Peterson and Joy Hanna.

As moms and lifelong lovers of God's Word, we wanted to create Bible stories that captured children's attention while remaining faithful to Scripture. We dreamed of stories with engaging character voices, cinematic sound effects, original music, and simple, age-appropriate language—something children would ask to hear again and again.

Today, tens of thousands of families use Big Bible Stories during breakfast, quiet time, bedtime, car rides, and family devotions.

What ages are Big Bible Stories best for?

Our stories were written primarily for children ages 1-9, though many families tell us their older siblings enjoy listening too.

Each story is intentionally short enough to match a young child's attention span while still teaching the big truths of Scripture.

What Makes Big Bible Stories Different from Other Bible Audio Stories?

Rather than simply reading Scripture aloud, our stories are professionally dramatized with:

  • Character voices

  • Sound effects

  • Original music

  • Simple, conversational storytelling

  • "What Does This Teach Us?" application at the end of every story

The goal is to help children understand—not just hear—God's Word.

What Bible translation do you use?

Our stories are Bible retellings written in language young children can easily understand.

They are primarily based on the NIV and ESV, and every story includes the Bible references so families can read the full passage together afterward.

What do you believe?

We believe the Bible is God's true and inspired Word and that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone.

Our doctrinal statement is rooted in the Apostles' Creed. While we come from different denominational backgrounds, we're united around the core truths of historic Christianity.

Which Big Bible Stories Collection Should I Buy First?

If you're brand new to Big Bible Stories, many families begin with our Old Testament and New Testament bundle to give children a broad understanding of God's story from Genesis through the life of Jesus and the early church.

Others love starting seasonally with The Story of Christmas or The Story of Easter, or by learning biblical character through The Fruit of the Spirit.

There's no wrong place to begin!
